HAAA Scholarship Fund

The HAAA Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 to enable more Arab students with financial need to attend Harvard University.

The Scholarship will provide grants for top students from the Arab world, studying full time towards a degree from any of Harvard University’s schools. Ideally, the student would have received a degree from a school in the Arab world. A $10 million endowment will eventually support up to 20 students per year.

100% of donations to the Scholarship Fund will be deposited directly into the Fund. Additionally, the HAAA will contribute 10% of its annual earnings to the Fund. The Scholarship’s funds will be managed by the Harvard Management Company (HMC) as part of the University’s $40 billion endowment. HMC’s investment return was 23% in 2007. Individual grant recipients will be selected by the university’s Committee on General Scholarship, based on the criteria established by the HAAA Scholarship Fund Committee.

The Scholarship is part of the HAAA’s mission to support Arab students throughout their Harvard experience. In addition to grants through the Fund, the HAAA will:

*Recruit top-caliber applicants to Harvard from the Arab world through its Project Harvard Admissions

*Advise admitted students through direct Alumni contacts until matriculation

*Support Arab student groups on campus through grants and co-sponsored events

*Provide career opportunities to Arab students and alumni through Career Fairs

*Create a lifetime value for alumni through international conferences, local events, and an ever-expanding network
