The HAAA elects two projects annually to focus on during the course of the upcoming year. The success of these projects relies on the involvement of our membership and on the generous support of our sponsors. The HAAA always welcomes ideas for new projects. Please submit any project ideas to

 

Project Harvard Admissions

Long-term project goals:
. To reach a level of at least 15 admitted students to Harvard College from the Arab world per annum
. To raise $500,000 for the Harvard College "Arab students" endowment fund
. To provide at least 50 summer internship opportunities for local high school students throughout the Arab world
. To provide test prep courses for top students throughout the Arab world

 

Specific goals for this year:
. To spread awareness among students throughout the Arab world about the Harvard admissions process and the Harvard experience
. To raise funding to offset the costs for Arab students to attend Harvard College
. To better inform the Harvard admissions office about local high schools in order to promote their recruiting efforts in the region
. To better prepare students in the region for admission to Harvard College by offering local internship opportunities and test prep courses

 

Opportunities to get involved:
. Volunteer to make a presentation about the admissions process at a local high school in the Arab world
. Volunteer to coach an applicant through the application process
. Make a donation to the "Arab Students" endowment fund

Progress to date

. We have made informational presentations about the Harvard admissions process and experience to students at local high schools in the UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.
. We are working with the Harvard admissions office to organize a regional visit for the fall.
. We have coached several prospective students through the application process.
