Harvard Arab Weekend

Ahlan!

It is our honor, on behalf of the Harvard Arab Alumni Association, the various MENA clubs across campus, and the Arab student body, to welcome you to the 5th Harvard Arab Weekend, taking place at Harvard University from the 10th through 13th of November, 2011.

The largest pan-Arab conference in North America, the Harvard Arab Weekend (HAW) has prided itself on showcasing a mosaic of perspectives and insights on the most pressing issues in the Arab world. Our speakers and participants engage in dialogue and discussion that critically and realistically examines a wide range of fields to build an optimistic vision for the MENA region. Our conference this year upholds and contributes to this venerable tradition of discourse.

We have had the honor to work with an amazing team of ambitious, effective, and creative students from all across campus. The representation of more than 9 Harvard graduate and undergraduate schools has brought the brightest minds in the fields of law, business, education, health, and politics together to mold HAW 2011.

Witnessing and observing the magnitude of the political change and civic movements that have been sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa and marking a new era for the Arab region, we recognize that tireless commitment is necessary to sustain such a (r)evolution. As we rejoice over positive change and anticipate the turmoil that inevitably accompanies it, we pose the most practical and productive question: What’s Next?

The Harvard Arab Weekend 2011 presents a series of events, panels and addresses that will create context for the current social and political transformation taking place before us and features a diverse line-up of luminaries, from the Chairman of the Libyan National Transitional Council to the CEO of Nissan and from youth leaders of the Egyptian revolution to experts on refugee health. Join us for a weekend of inspiration, networking, and more that will shape a new Arab generation!
