3rd Annual Middle East Conference

Middle East Conference

 

Held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the event drew over 175 participants from around the Arab region, attracting Harvard alumni from as far as New York and London. The event featured many regional and international leaders, including H.E. Zaid Al-Rifa’i (A.B. ’57, President of Jordan’s Senate and former Primer Minister), Dr. Safwan Al Masri (Professor and former Vice Dean, Columbia Business School), Alex Ghiso (Managing Director,Ripplewood Holdings), and Ahmed Tantash (Chairman and CEO, Jordinvest). Sponsors of the event included Citadel, EFG Hermes, Istithmar, Jordan Dubai Capital, Abraaj, Jordinvest, McKinsey & Co. and Booz & Co.

The event attracted over 400 students and alumni from leading universities throughout the United States to meet with leading employers based in the Arab region, who, in addition to our very generous sponsors, included Derayah, Jadwa Investments, Monitor Group, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, and Yamli. Harvard Middle East North Africa Weekend

December 4 - December 6, 2008, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA

 

 

This three-day event included several components, anchored by the Harvard MENA Conference and the 3rd Annual Career Fair. The 2nd Annual Harvard MENA Weekend built on the tremendous success of our inaugural weekend. The event was presented jointly by Arab student groups from Harvard College, Harvard Business School, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Harvard School of Public Health, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design and attracted over 500 participants from across the United States and the Arab Region.

 

 

HAAA City Dinner Series

December 18, 2008, Dubai, UAE

 

Following the success of the City dinners held in the HAAA held its second dinner in Dubai on December 18th 2008 at the Capital Club, DIFC. The dinner brought together over 50 graduates of Harvard College, Business School, Law School, School of Public Health, and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.The event was co-hosted with the Harvard Alumni Society of the UAE and sponsored by EFG-Hermes and Abraaj Capital.

 

 

The 2008 Harvard Arab Alumni Association Membership Directory

The 2nd Annual HAAA Membership Directory was mailed to over 400 members in December 2008.

 

This full-color, professionally designed directory includes information that members will want to refer to many times throughout the year, including contact and professional information for all our members around the world; a list of research and student groups at Harvard related to the Arab world; and photos from all of our events during the past year.
